Three Wheeled Buggies

Three-wheeled buggies are great for walking around the neighborhood or jogging. Their compact design makes them easy to maneuver, even in tight spaces.
If you are looking for an easy ride in your pram, choose models with 360deg front wheels that swivel. However, they are prone to punctures so be prepared with a repair kit.
Sturdy frame
The latest figures have been released that show that the three-wheeled buggie - a symbol of the noughties of more money than sanity - is in steep decline. They are being replaced by four-wheelers that are able to handle a wider range of terrain, while still looking stylish and easy to push.
The bigger the wheels are, the better your buggy will cope with uneven surfaces and bumpy pavements. The larger wheels, both front and rear, make it easier to maneuver and more stable when walking downhill or over difficult terrain.
MFM reviewer Kath tried this buggy out with a newborn and 3 year old and found it coped well with grass, cobbles, rough roads, dirt tracks and kerbs. She said "it is sturdy to push and extremely solid when you're on rough terrain. Its tyres, which are inflatable and require to be pumped regularly, have built-in suspension. This was extremely comfortable for my kids.
Another thing to consider is the seat size and shape. The seat should be big enough for your child to be at ease and to lie down. Certain three-wheel buggies have an option to lie flat completely while others will only allow an adult facing one.
The Roma Atlas is a great option for off-road and walking in muddy areas. This buggy is suitable for a single child starting from birth and can be adjusted to accommodate two children as your family expands. It is suitable for babies and toddlers up to age four and comes with a bumper bar, raincover, an improved 5-point harness and a spacious cushioned seat. The storage options are great too, with a decent-sized basket, zip pockets in the hood and a handy pouch on the rear of the seat unit.
Larger wheels
Larger wheels will give your buggy greater stability when driving over rough terrain. This is especially beneficial for buggies that are off-road. Additionally, they help you maneuver the pushchair in tight spaces. Many three wheeled buggies have swivel front wheels to help you navigate around tight corners, while others are designed for running and come with fixed front wheels that lock to increase the speed and stability with the speed at which they can be pushed. This is particularly useful when you hit the kerb or a tree. The front wheel will lift slightly to prevent hitting it.
A lot of 3 wheel pushchairs have air filled tyres which means they can handle many different terrains and are more flexible than four wheelers. They are also lighter. They are more prone to punctures, and you'll need to have an repair kit and spare inner tube on hand.
Mountain Buggy Core, Venicci Carbo and the Venicci Carbo lux are among our top 3-wheelers. These buggies, as per MFM's Kath, have larger wheels which, she says "perform well on gravel roads, grass and market town cobbles" and are able to climb or descend kerbs. They also come with a suspension system that in her words "smoothes out bumps very effectively".
Buggies with larger wheels may be quite wide and may struggle to fit into narrow spaces. This can be an issue especially if you're using it to a jogger or you need to to get through doors that are narrow when out and out and about. Fortunately, the majority of models come with small folding options that let you take off the front wheels to make compact storage.
Easy to maneuver
One of the main benefits to a three wheel buggy is that it can be much easier to maneuver especially with a child on the way. The way they are built means that the front wheels turn at a quick pace and are extremely easy to maneuver, making them ideal for difficult terrains like cobbles, parks and bumpy pavements as well as dirt tracks.
MFM reviewer Kath tried a 3-wheeler with her newborn and toddler and stated: "The Terrain was a pleasure to maneuver over tough terrain with the swivel rear wheel being particularly helpful. I was also impressed by how well it dealt with bumps, particularly when using the brake operated by hand. It was very stable for descending or on uneven terrain."
The only drawback of this great maneuverability is that the 3 wheel buggy 's larger wheels do sometimes mean that it can be difficult to maneuver in tight spaces - something to be aware of if you live in a metropolitan region. If this is an issue, a 4-wheeled buggy may be the better choice for you.
Bumper bar
Bumper bars will protect your child from bumps and scrapes while out and about. They are simple and quick to put up and help your child feel safe and secure when out in the city or on the trail.
This bumper bar was designed to complement the sleek lines of your Slim Twin stroller. It features a soft, padded surface that offers an ideal place for your child to grab onto while walking. The robust construction and durable design will ensure that your child is comfortable strolling through the city without worrying about falling or leaning forward.
The sling seat is comfortably inside the frame as opposed to sitting on top like modular seats do, providing the lowest center of gravity at the ideal height for your baby and also providing an excellent weight distribution to facilitate kerb pop (it requires less effort to push the buggy up and over a curb than you think). MFM reviewer Kath found it coped really well with cobbles and grass and it's a good option for jogging thanks to its lockable swivel front wheel and air filled tyres.
With a chic and sophisticated appearance this bumper bar is sure to turn heads wherever you go. Available in a range of finishes and colors, it can be customized to match your style. The bumper bar is easily installed and removed with a quick-release mechanism. Furthermore, the bumper bar is easy to clean, and is made of durable materials that are easy to clean. This makes it an excellent option for families seeking a stylish and safe stroller accessory.
Comfort
A 3-wheel buggy offers the highest level of maneuverability and performance when you go off road. With perfect geometry and engineering, as well as weight distribution this kind of buggy is able to be able to turn at a moment's notice and be easy to steer with just one hand; and all Mountain Buggies meet the same rigorous global stability standards and tests as buggies with 4 wheels.
The clever design of the Sport places the fabric sling seat within the frame, instead of sitting on top as modular seats. This lets it have lower center of gravity which means it's more comfortable to push, has a lighter curb-pop (you will not need to put in much effort to push the buggy's front end over a curb) and also provides better balance and stability. With the 16" rear wheels, the lockable front wheel, and tyres that are air-filled which allow for a smoother, more comfortable jog.
The only all-terrain stroller in our range that comes with an adult-facing seat that can also accept the car seat or carrycot, you can make sure your family is prepared for every adventure beginning from the first day and for years to come!
It's not the only reason you should love this buggy It's also a great way to get around - our MFM reviewer Kath was impressed by how spacious it is as well. There's a big easily accessible basket that's huge for a buggy of this size as well as a handy zipped pouch on the rear of the seat unit, and even two smaller mesh pockets under the hood to store your phone and keys.
